Wow what a day.Left at 5.10am and headed off to round 4 of the GBXC.Took one hour forty at speeds I shouldnt really be doing with a trailer on the back:rolleyes:I signed on and paid, got the bike checked over and sat her on the front row of the am race. The start was in a bamboo plantation with a series of tight bends cleared probably by Pandas and then it opened up into the rolling countryside. The track was around 7 to 7.5 miles so we were told with a bit of everything.Steep climbs, steep drops, open field sections,a bog, river bed, woods, stoney ground, peaty ground, slick grassy turns and roots.I got a good start but soon realized I was riding against some real good competition. It was a bit hectic for the first lap but then I settled in and really enjoyed myself. As usual I used my RACERSEDGE core skills and my Fryspeed RM onetwentyfive performed perfectly.I ended the 40+ am race in 21st place out of 48.Im really pleased with this result as its a national race series and these guys are quick. The five riders in front of me were all under 2 mins ahead so I need to stop having time wasting silly little offs and I can improve my results.Im looking forward to doing another GBXC.It is one of the best events I have competed in and one of the best venues. The Pro race in the afternoon was insane.Fast Eddy,Si Wakely,Tom Sagar and Daryl Bolter were swopping places all two and a half hours. We even saw Fast Eddy giving Tom Sagar a bit of bar bashing resulting in a wicked block pass in the woods:eek: Tom Sagar won with Daryl about 5 seconds behind him and Si wakely 3rd.
