Well done to SCEC for putting on a very unique event.
I arrived in good time for the Maze in the Maize and was looking forward to having a fun day on the bike. The flag dropped for the start and my KTM didn't start straight away on the button but after a little bit of fannying around I got it going in last place in my group who were once again first away. It was almost straight into the maze and it was not much fun being in the first group through the freshly cut maize, it was very very stoney and felt like riding on marbles. It didn't take long to get to the back of the pack and I set about moving through the smaller than normal field of championship riders. I think I go to third place by the end of lap one and into the lead on lap 3 whch is where I stayed for the remainder of the three hour race. No real dramas this time out apart from stalling when the fuel ran out in the main tank, I was a little too slow getting the tap round to reserve and the result was having to run and bump the bike to get her going again. When I came through the transponder check point point the big TV screen showed 16 mins remaining, my quick sums worked that out to mean two more laps so I went for it on reserve fuel and riding with restraint to make sure I got to the line.
Al in all a good day at the track and my first SCEC race win. :xbeer

Was a hot one today! - drank 1.5 of water from the camelbak
Flag drops and guess what errrrrrrrr bike didn't wanna go :o. So was dead off the line (can see me in the pic on mxtrax - http://i582.photobucket.com/albums/ss261/kwacker-snapper/Bramblecoombe/DSC_2689.jpg ), got to the first corner/woods only to find three bikes sideways across the track, so had to wait for them to move and get up the hill. Then after the first maize section, managed to get past the 1st from last rider to only loose the front end on a steep offcamber grass corner, trapping my foot under the bike  by this time i was really thinking this was not going to be my day.
Got back up and decided to chill and focus, rest of the lap was spent playing catch up, and by time i got the first lap under my belt think i was something like 2nd from last in my class.
Came in for fuel at an hour, and for the next hour the track was at it's prime, not too many stones on the racing lines, and nice loomy berms :xbeer By this time i had settled into a good rythem working my way up into the top 10.
The last hour the track started to get bumpy, and for soom reason went on forever . . . .
Anyhoo, came round with 2 mins to go, so was sent out for oen more lap, in which i managed to gain another place :xbeer
Overall good days racing, ending up 6th in class, just wish i had a good start . . .
THE END
