I started when I was fourteen.
My dad never shouted at me except for the odd GOooooooooo-Ooooooooooooon when I was right behind someone which was only ever general encouragement and never pressure.

Not all old skool dads were pressurising their kids.

I haven't been to a schoolboy meeting in 24 years but it sounds like there are a lot more idiot dads in it now.

If my son (he's only two at the moment) ever wants to take it up, I'll let him but will never pressure him.
Even though he is only two he likes my bike and makes brum brum noises in the garage. Chip of the old block there then.

At the end of the day, if you are scaring your kids, IT IS bullying in my opinion.

I dont recall Hollywood Senior every getting cross with me in the schoolboys...maybe that was because I always gave 110%resulting in either a good race or a crash... I always had encouragement trackside but he never chased around the track...if I fell off I picked it up asap and got going again.... none of this sitting and waiting till the medics came over and made a fuss... if i didnt get up he knew i was hurt...... actually I never broke a bone in the schoolboys...saved those 17 odd for my adult career....
