Thanks Andy for the pics.....
All was well for Sunday a pair of Goldentyres ready for thier 1st outing in the slippery bog of Chew Magna. Practice was great I had no problems at all getting around the track and part of me wanted it to stay that way for the rest of the day... but for Moto 1 it had dried to perfect conditions.
No pegs to choose from and 1st come 1st serve to the gate and I was 3/4 the way down te gate, but confident my Goldentyres were gonna hook up and pull me out front.
Gate dropped and got squeezed out into the 1st corner, I took a whack on the arm and 3 riders dropped in front causing me to stop and move around them. Heading off about 5th from the back I worked my way upto 16th from riders and was well happy with the performance.
Moto 2 was much of the same except I took off 2nd from last after having to stop for a crash in front of me and then some removing some Suzuki Handlebar that was jammed in my front wheel.... again I put the hammer down and had a great ride to pick up overhalf way through the pack.
Moto 3 myGoldentyres didnt hook up and i span on the line and had to work to get some sort of 1st corner position... but still the Goldentyres worked excellent around the track giving me 100% confidence on cornering and staying in all the ruts all day... I finished moto 3 around 16th again but was well impressed with my riding and a big improvement on previous meetings where like Andy was working to stay at the back of the seniors.
Sunday Night we camped over to race for Monday, I was kept awake until 4AM by kids next door who decided to pitch a tent to watch Mondays racing... by 3.30 AM i had enough and had hold of 2 of them by the throat marching them upto the top of the field... after a few profanities from me and 1 almighty shove they both fell over and that was the last i heard from them for the rest of the night.... thank God.
3 Hours sleep and I woke up in a funny mood... not at all keen for the days racing...
Practice for Monday I went out gingerly looking for some smooth lines we found when walking the track the night before after racing.... to my suprice ever line i wanted to take had been squashed by the digger... so I spent 4 laps trying different lines from what was there.
I came in feeling a bit down and tried to chill out in Big Als truck away from my family to get some well needed peace n quiet..
Race 1 I went down early and got a good gate 6 from the top and was looking good....
Goldentyres hooked up perfect on the start got round 1st bend in about 9th to find Geezer my Purbeck arch rival lying on the deck.. things were going great although i dropped 2 positions in 2 laps i was going great...the rider in front was tyring and I put in an extra twist of gas to outbreak him into the corne...Unfortunatley he shut the door and my bars hit the corner post and I was tossed off from the Honda 125r for the 1st time since i bought it 3 months ago...I landed upside down with the bike 10 meters away and the back end up in the air... after getting my sh1t together i jumped back on only to find the Geez on my tail. My bars were bent but I had to beat the Arch rival... Whilst I was getting back upto race speed he passed me and a lap later I passed him back using what was to be described as a supercross block pass on the corner before the tabletop... unfortunatley i got it all wrong over the table top and he re took the position..
Diving into the last lapI was right on his tail I had already made up mind that i was going to pass him on the uphill drag towards the ski jump and big downhill jump but disaster struck.........
Flat out in 3rd gear I hit the 10" Corner Rut and my front wheel hopped out causing me to high side and depart from my Hinda yet again in the same race...this time I wasnt getting back on..I stood up only to drop straight back down again... Looking down at my knee i knew I had done something bad... the medics came to my rescue and I explained movent was ok but it was popping inwards all the time when i stood up, Liggement Damage was here...
The marshalls didnt want to push my bike up so they shoved me back on the bike and bump started me to which i got to the pits and that was that.
Straight the the Hospital and xrays showed no broken bones in the knee which was good, although some whiplash and shoulder bruising along with bruised finger and toe...
Here i lie in bed.... and woke up this morning and cant move the knee at all, even though i managed to drive home slowly from the meeting...
I have now joined the spacka Leg Club...
