Default Which is the best body armour?

Hi,
I'm not sure if this is the right area to post about this or not.
I've also read the threads related to my question but none of them have answered it fully.

I'm new to MX, and am not looking to race just do it for fun.
I'm looking for body armour and i want some pretty good stuff but haven't got loads of money.

I'm currently looking at two but don't know which is best to get, i'm pretty sure eventually i'm going to buy a leatt brace (when i can build up the cash) so i want it to be compatible with that.

The two i'm looking at are the Thor force deflector and the Thor impact rig SE.
Which would be the best to get?
Are they both compatible with the leatt brace?

Does anyone have any experience with any of these?
If you do please tell me about them.

I'm open to other brands, only picked these cos i liked the look of them.

Thanks.

Hi Lolla, Sorry no one has responded to you yet. You picked a bad time to ask as many were at the trackday and after party. Give them time to sober up and get home and I'm sure you will get the help you need.

A few of the guys who I know have Leatts tend to use the foam type armour, but as you mentioned i'm sure one of the Thor sets are compatable but I have no idea which one

... not sure about the Leatt capatability as i dont have one...but as for body armour ive just purchased a 661 body armour suit ..... its like a mesh vest with armour bits attached to back/front/shoulders and elbows... and a built in kidney belt ...

...main reason i bought it ... is because i got tired of skinning my elbows even with a steady off ... tried seperate elbow pads but they just kept slipping down the arm during riding

I see a lot of riders using these, but they don't have any arm protection

I use the EVS BJ22 ballistic jersey - seems ok to me.

Check out the EVS sports website

Re the compatability with the Leatt. I've seen riders race with pretty much all types of armour, usually over the top of their jersey, whilst also wearing a Leatt. However, they sometimes have to cut little bits of their race shirt around the neck area if it's the full on plastic type like say the Thor Aftershock, but I think you'd be pretty much ok with any type.

I suppose some would be a lot more comfortable than others, so if poss you might be best trying the armour and Leatt Brace on together, so you know what feels most comfortable for you. If you then go back to buy the Leatt from the same shop once you've saved up enough money they might knock you a little bit off too.

Good luck
