On Sunday ..raced just outside Derby at a track named Stenson, organised by the Burton On Trent AMCA Club


..the meeting saw a good turn out of riders and Round 1 of the Championship Qualifiers...i'll come back to that later


Track Conditions ; Perfect...heavy overnight rain left the track very slick for practise, but the morning sunshine soon dried the track and some great ruts and berms formed


Race 1; 36 on gate....rounded first corner in 8th....four corners in crashed ....couldnt start bike.....stone last half a lap down ...RED MIST ... came through to 17th at the flag


Race 2 ; gated 4th ....3laps ...leaped into 3rd place but leaped out of track at the same time...crash......got going pretty quick...then crashed again ...finished 32nd


* getting well cheesed off at this point...5 race starts this year...not stayed on the bike in one of them *


Race 3 ; finishing in 32nd last time out ...gave me a bad gate pick ...so went for the inside on a gate that was favouring the outside picks.

Thought to myself on line....if i can holeshot my side of the gate..ive got a chance....


Got the drop...Holeshot...........but 3 riders swept round the outside....so ran 4th for a while, then got into 3rd

worked on staying on and trying to be smooth .... good race for me...faded towards the end ...finished 5th


Track was good...weather was good....organising club had Marshall and Transponder issues



Good to meet up with forum member Bonesy, think he was on the deck as often as me ..

* AMCA Championship Qualifiers


... must have been a shock for former MX2 GP runner Glen Phillips

a flat field, in the shadows of a dis-used power station....


The Burton Club is a cracking little club....and they put alot of effort into to a flat track ....good jumps ...good soil....nice lay-out ...flushing toilets....burger and baked spud vans ...etc..


but yesterday, there first meeting of the year...they had, lets say, a few teething problems ... basically with the transponder system and there marshalls were a bit Red Flag happy



The racing was superb...and the result shows Glen on top of the Podium....but the result doesn't tell the full story....Richard Cannings owned him.....

Race 1 ..Richard Cannings won easy ....but they had major probs with computer ... so in the end they decided to scrap Race One results ...ths after asking anyone in the paddock if they lapscored the race....and then getting the riders to race control to ask them were they finished...




Race 2 saw Cannings crash whilst again leading


Race 3 saw Cannings lead...crash ...and re pass Philipps ...only to make a silly mistake on last lap ...and come in 3rd


Cannings ....fastest rider ive seen in the AMCA for a while
