Default Marathon Training, with Les's Gloves

Good news fellas - less than 20 weeks until Marathon day

The weather is cold so Les's Gloves will be accompanying me on most runs this year. We've been doing a bit of base building in the last few weeks, ready for the proper Marathon programme to start on 21st December (what a great week to start! )

This last week has been thus:

Sunday 7th 16.37 miles (steady) in 2 hours 13 mins

Monday 8th 6.50 miles (Recovery Run) in 51 mins 43 secs

Wednesday 9th 9.37 miles (including 10 x 400m fast for a bit of Speed Work) 1 hour 19 mins

Thursday 10th 8.83 miles (fairly fast, very hilly route) in 1 hour 5 mins

Saturday 12th 17.43 miles (off-road, steady but very muddy) in 2 hours 27 mins

Planned another 12-15 or so later on, so that will make a nice total for the week - prob about 55 miles or so

I'd like to thank Les's Gloves for their support, and for keeping my hands warm out there

No you're right - I was rejected but was hanging on for a Club place. But the draw isn't until after Xmas, so I binned it off completely and have entered the Shakespeare Marathon in Stratford instead now (same day as London).

The plan is if I can run sub-3 hours at Stratford I'll automatically qualify for London for 2011. Sub-3 is the qualifying mark for all the major city Marathons too - Berlin, New York, Boston and Chicago - so, best get my act together!

OT but I'm thinking of doing the merrel wildman in january, I've been told it's quite a challange, it's a 12k run, 20K bike, 6k run all offroad, have you got any tips for prepairing to do a trail run that sort of distance?

Iain
