I packed up in 1993 for 13 years and I am back in my 2nd season, still enjoying it especially on the 125.

Never really retired in 36 years of racing , the only times I have stopped racing is when I have been injured .
The longest period I have had off a bike is 11 months , that was in the late 80's when I broke my back the first time .

I started riding in 83 and retired in 88 after a few injurys blended into one, then came back into it this year, so 20yrs retirement for me. But looking back on the vintage forums etc I think I probably seen the best times with the HRC stuff, thorpe, bailey, magoo, malherb, jobe, lechien, hannah and ward to name a few at the epic nations races and Gp's. I really feel i havent missed much, am I wrong? I know the pups nowadays do their thing at the GP's but its just to sterile when you see them, the pre race interviews with the redbull caps and white sunglasses thing going on, I just think noooooo you look like a tit, its not cool.
Reading Rob A's site about him being on the road to the gp's and start money, prize money and the hardship that brought is just what I remember of my days as a schoolboy, all the travelling and general comaderie with other people with the same interest as you and the laughs we had, looking at my reply here I guess ive bridged over to the other topic about good times but I guess all i want to say is I dont think its as good as it was in the 80's

I spose I retired twice since 1976 when I started racing at age 11... stopped in 1986 then got shot of the reason I stopped in 2001 and started riding again almost straight away... well for one meeting.... well to be precise 3 laps of practice... retired nursing my wounds untill 2005 and have been riding again since then....

Now at the ripe ol age of 31 im thinking I cant do this for an awful lot longer....

I had been racing for 16 years, now it's been about 2 since i've rode/raced.

I promised myself i wouldn't bother getting back on a bike until i'm fitter. The last 4/5 years i raced were just a waste of time in terms of being competitive.
